Why do so many disney cartoon characters wear gloves?

I’m a big fan of Disney cartoons. After watching the cartoons on Disney DVD, I found that so many characters wear gloves. I wonder why

A7: You know it is much easier to see on-screen than tiny fingers waving about. The early animators found it easier to draw gloves over & over again than to draw actual hands.
